Teal Pumpkin Project®:

The Teal Pumpkin Project® is a social program led by FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education). FARE’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the health of individuals with food allergies, and to provide them hope through the promise of new treatments.

The Teal Pumpkin Project is a program they run every October in which putting a teal pumpkin on your doorstep on Halloween means you have non food treats available for trick or treaters. These items include things such as glow sticks or small toys. This simple act promotes inclusion for trick-or-treaters with food allergies or other conditions.

I started participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project once I was diagnosed and I can assure you it is  super easy to participate. There are 4 Simple Steps:

  1. Provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters
  2. Place a teal pumpkin in front of your home to indicate to passersby that you have non-food treats available
  3. Add your home to the Teal Pumpkin Project map
  4. Spread the word! Share the Teal Pumpkin Project with your friends and family

It is a great, easy way to make sure all kids are included on Halloween.
